REYNOLDS, STATE CHAIRMAN WOED OP INVITATION FROM STATE - CHAIRMAN REYNOLDS. To the Republicans of North Carplina: ' i In the name of the City, of Winston-Salem, re gardless of party, I want to extend a most hearty in-f ...'i-A.V.. i - Tl Li: .1-1 Xi J. . r P tiutuuu 10 iiie iiepuuncaii ueiegauoiis 10 our vouveiii tion on April 12th, and to assure them of a most cor! dial welcome and a pleasant time. Arid right here, If want to say tncTJonvention will be called to order a uw o'clock instead m 12:00, as all the trains will be in by that time and it may possibly give us time for: some of the delegates to get off on the evening train$, pressed for time. I Speakers of note have been invited to be with y$W that day and we have every assurance that thet V bethere, and we will do our best to make this wcasion both profitable and entertaining. ( Brethren, I am anxious for as many delegates t come as possible. I want our people to see the class of men that constitute the Republican Party, for Jt srnure no party has been less understood or more vnjustly abused than the .'Republican Party of Nortll -Carolina. We have been regarded by many as the enemies of good government, men who would de pil the State for the sake of office. Our motives have been .misunderstood, our acts unfairly criticized, our history misrepresented; in fact, everv method to dis credit our party, that the fertile brain of the Demo cratic leaders could invent, lias been resorted to. 'j Now, brethren, I want the people of North Carp luia to become better acquainted with our party. I Jant them to understand that we are as loyal to the tate of North Carolina as any party has ever been, toat we want to carry North Carolina not for the offices, not as a matter of reprisal or revenge on tin fmocratic Party, for those are the lowest arid most I Worthy motives that could move us, but bur desire kl win should be to reduce the , burden of . taxatiifn, promote efficiency and economy in office, to pass lb tral ind progressive laws that will invite both labor and capital to come and make their homes with u v There is no question that in , certain .partJbf jjorth Carolina the people were' never less able to pay tljeirt taxes, than to-day and yet their taxes lre j-ever heavier. .Wc see meetings are being held in various counties of the State, protesting against cj6n Pmons that are upon us at this time. These condi tions affect all alike, both Democrats and Repribli tans. Then why should not all good citizens get to other and, forgetting all past party differences, join 7 dominating the very best men, regardless of party, specially for the Legislature and elect them. There Srtain. State obligations we cannot get fromun Sf ut .we can certairilv cut down many expenses are not-fixed, abolisn manv useless offices ,and op the continual issue of State'bonds. . Brethren, come arid let us council together, iand yWe, go home resolved to be better and more tSCiul citizens than wc have ever been. ' 1 . C. A.
